Best of ‘Taste of Cayman’ Defending their titles

Every year at Taste of Cayman, the people have their chance to vote for their choice for the coveted title of Cayman’s Favourite Restaurant. Competition is stiff, and it is an all-out culinary battle between restaurants to earn as many votes as they can by festival goers. Last year, Deckers Caribbean Grill & Bar was the winner, collecting 269 votes from festival attendees. Will they be able to extend their reign? Or will another restaurant take over for 2012?

Each attendee to the festival is given one (1) wooden token in their food ticket packets to vote with. Each person has to wisely decide which restaurant should earn their token (and thus their vote) to be named Cayman’s Favourite Restaurant. Voting containers will be found at each restaurant booth, and when you are ready to cast your vote, simply drop the token in the container of your choice for the title. Only one vote per person, and everyone should be aware that voting closes at 10pm!!

In addition to Cayman’s Favourite Restaurant, several other awards are given by a committee. They work hard on the night of the festival, tasting foods from all booths to decide who has the:

  • Best Food (Lobster Pot, Lobster Bisque)
  • Best Dessert (Seven Mile Sticky Toffee Cake)
  • Best Drink (Rum Point Restaurant, World-Famous Mudslides)
  • Best Booth (Breezes by the Bay/Cimboco/Chicken! Chicken!)

Last year’s winners will be hard to beat, but we are pleased that all are signed up and ready to defend their titles! In the end, the real winners are the festival attendees, who have the chance to enjoy so many yummy dishes from our top restaurants on island!
