Chef Profile: Chef Ervin Horvath
Agave Grill is arguably the best Mexican restaurant in Grand Cayman, thanks to the skill and talents of Chef Ervin Horvath. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Chef Ervin now makes Grand Cayman his home, and Agave Grill his passion. He not only is the chef, but he is also owner of the restaurant. In addition to running Agave Grill, he also enjoys travelling and reading a good book.
Credit for Chef Ervin's interest in the culinary arts can go to internationally renowned cooking show host and Master Chef Martin Yan. While Chef Yan specialized in Asian foods, Cayman's Chef Ervin loves to cook with pork! Items on the menu at Agave Grill vary, however, and patrons can enjoy vegetarian, beef, pork, chicken and even seafood based items. One item you won't find on Agave's menu is the most unusual dish that Chef Ervin made: house cured gravlax with gin and purple kale. But rest assured, customers will enjoy their meal as Chef Ervin has received many awards for his cooking talents, including 'best in class' at the George Brown School of Hospitality!
If you are in your own kitchen, Chef Ervin gives this interesting tip when using ginger: grab a spoon and use that to peel your ginger root.
