St. Patricks Day is around the corner and for those of us who are not Irish it is still an excuse to drink beer particularly if it's green, wear badges that say "kiss me I'm Irish" and dance like a leprechaun. 5th Annual Taste of Cayman Charity Wine Dinner to Support Tourism
The Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) has teamed up with BlackBeard's Fine Wines & Spirits, Louis Jadot and The Brasserie to put on the 5th Annual Taste of Cayman Charity Wine Maker's Dinner, which will be held on March 16, 2013. The talents of Chef Nevin at The Brassiere will be evident in the five-courses of food served at the dinner and the six wines that complement each course perfectly. The wines are the best of Louis Jadot, one of the largest houses in Burgundy, France, where chardonnay and pinot noir are some of the best examples of their varieties in the world! Guests of this dinner will enjoy a beautiful evening, delicious food, elegant wines and have the opportunity to take home some fabulous items that will be available in a live auction on the night. Th
The team of judges tasted their way through 10 heavy cake entries at the 25th Anniversary Taste of Cayman Food & Wine Festival’s Heavy Cake Competition. The challenge to the panel of self-proclaimed heavy cake experts was to not only enjoy the samples of each cake that was entered by a local baker; the judges also had to rate the cakes based on the texture, flavor and how well the cake represented the traditional Caymanian style of heavy cake, awarding a maximum of 10 points to each cake. When the scores were combined, three bakers were identified as having the best heavy cakes on island.
